Spaghetti Sauce

Jane Longnecker’s Spaghetti Sauce
I had this for the first time at Jane and Lance’s (medical school friend’s of my parents in Des Moines) when I was about five. It was the same evening I realized I had no idea which was my left and my right!

Chop up a medium onion,
brown it with 2 lbs. of ground beef
add 1 cup of chopped mushrooms, saute for a bit, then
drain and add:
1 6 oz can of tomato paste
2 15oz cans of tomato sauce
1 jar of prepared Spaghetti sauce
1/2 cup of red wine
1 tsp of sugar
1 tsp of oregano
2 tsp of Italian seasoning
1 bay leaf
salt and pepper
You may need to season more.
Simmer on top of the stove for at least an hour
Serve over spaghetti.

Serves about 6.
